About Productive Penny

I created this site out of a passion for personal finance, and for sharing that information with others.

Meet Andrew

Andrew - Founder of Productive Penny

Hi! I'm Andrew, a 29-year-old software engineer living in Indianapolis. I graduated from Notre Dame with a business degree, but my passion for personal finance comes from years of planning, optimizing, and learning how to make every dollar count.

I've always hated waste – whether it's money, time, or opportunities – and that mindset naturally drew me to personal finance. Over the years, I've seen how small, intentional choices can grow into big results.

Outside of finance and coding, you'll find me on the pickleball court, hiking new trails, cheering on the Irish, or planning my next travel adventure. I believe money should support the life you want – not hold you back – and that's the core philosophy behind this blog.

My goal is to share practical strategies to build confidence, security, and freedom with your finances. Stick around, and let's make your money work as hard as you do.

About This Site

With this site I have three overarching objectives that guide everything I write and share.

1. Provide tools and information for financial security, and someday, financial independence.

Productive Penny is a platform of information regarding money and personal finance. The end goal isn't necessarily about having the most money you can possibly obtain. But it's about feeling secure and happy with your financial situation. It's about being confident that what you're doing is best for you. And someday, it's about having enough money that you don't have to rely on anyone else, and you can retire when you want to.

2. Make personal finance simple yet smart.

Most things about money don't have to be overly complicated. My goal is to keep things simple, but also make sure to think things through before making a rash judgment about anything. I think sometimes it's fun to talk about the math behind things, but other times I don't want to bore you with unnecessary details. Personal finance is meant to be simple, and I strive to keep it that way without sacrificing quality.

3. Foster an environment for learning.

This site is about learning about personal finance. It's learning for you, and it's learning for me too. I guarantee there were things that I didn't know until I researched them while writing one of my posts. I'm always looking to grow my knowledge, and with that, help you grow yours too.
